"perfect location just on the edge of the main tourist strip / market and so super convenient. Its a slighly dated hotel but actually completely fine with everything you need. The staff are aslo very helpful, friendly and accomodating which made for a nice stay"

As other reviews have mentioned - the rooms are cold ! They provide lots of heavy blankets and so you won't freeze or anything but hanging out in the rooms during the day was a bit chilly

communication, amenities, payment, access were poor. My boyfriend was ill, so this booking was made last minute to stay in Tarija for an extra night. Despite it being after the check in time, we still had to wait for the host to prepare the apartment. When we arrived, it was really difficult to unlock the door with the keypad (and remained pretty much impossible the whole time, it was a good thing my bf was always inside to let me in). Despite the booking being made for two people, we were left only one towel. There were very little dishes to be used (just one fork), and we found a MASSIVE cockroach the second day we were there. The payment was also very strange. Booking had us enter our credit card to reserve the booking, and made it seem like we could pay with the card, but our host asked us for cash after we arrived. She claimed she did not have credit card as an option on Booking. When I asked her to send me a message stating that I had paid her in cash in case I was also charged by card with Booking, she told me to cancel the reservation so that I wouldn't be charged (I pointed out I couldn't do that as it was non-refundable and then I WOULD be charged.) She never did send me a message to confirm I had paid her with cash. It was all very suspect. Unfortunately, we had to extend our stay again another night, so we arranged that with her and paid her cash without going through Booking again. We had actually been staying in the same building for our initial stay (we had booked with another platform) and had a much better experience for much less price-wise. Even though the check out time on the booking said 11:00, she told us we had to leave by 10:00. The one good thing about our stay was that she arranged for us to be able to to leave our bags locked in a room in the lower level while we waited for our night bus to Sucre after we checked out (early).

The staff, when we arrived they had mislabeled the room facilities meaning we had paid for a private bathroom but received a shared bathroom and the owner refused to acknowledge this. We had to negotiate for about an hour (our longest checkin to date). The hostal had maybe 10% capacity and did not show any hospitality in this manner, an easy solution would be to honour the booking.com information instead of argue with facts for an hour. They then refused to give towels even though that was part of the arranged booking, we had to go back and request this twice before they relented. Another big issue was the kitchen, they offer it as part of the booking but then kept making excuses as to why we couldn’t use it, kept it locked and we would have to ask permission to go inside. On top of this, it was incredibly basic with no refrigerator, microwave, kettle and the utensils had dried paint on them. Also, the shower and toilet are all in one. Which meant it’s quite gross and there’s no soap. Anyone we spoke to there switched hostel when possible to another, it isn’t somewhere you want to stay more than you have to.

Staff were eager to help and many spoke enough, or more than enough, English, which really helped me out. Thank you all 😊"

I didn't like that I had to leave and maybe the slightly noisy work men, but they didn't start making any noticeable noise until after 9. Plus, that can't be helped. Servicing has to be done. I'd rather that, than the place start falling apart. It's a really well kept building inside and out.
