"The family-run guesthouse is centrally located in Sigiriya. There are different kinds of shops and restaurants close by. Moreover, the entrance to the lion rock is not far away which makes an early morning hike to the summit for sunset possible. The check-in was quick and easy. Our room was spacious, clean and well maintained. We enjoyed the beautiful house with lots of greenery, the breakfast on the porch as well as the super friendly family members which quickly responded to all our requests. If you like, they will arrange different kinds of messages in the neighborhood, cooking classes, transport or even hot air ballooning. Furthermore, they will help you with information about your next destination (may it be Dambulla, Polonnaruwa or somewhere else). A great surprise was that there is a cooperation with another hotel 2 km away to use the swimming pool. It was such a wonderful time after ascending Sigiriya lion hill early in the morning."

"The owners were helpful and smiley. Room was basic but very comfortable for my needs. Clean large open bathroom and firm beds. Strong overhead fan. Large built in polished concrete table to spread out belongings. Clothes drying rack. Breakfast was good when I asked them to add some Sri Lankan food. Upstairs rooms so very private. There were very few tourists in this area. I went for a bike ride around the lake area behind which was nice. It is a 5 minute walk to small town with plenty of food options. Fruit shop across the main road is awesome. Beach is beautifully long and great sand. I would bus 5 minutes to Kalabana beach every morning and afternoon for waves."

"Clean, spacious (if a little dated) rooms with great Wi-Fi and air con and fantastic views over the city. The bed was very comfortable too. It is a little hard to find but if you call the property, the manager will speak to your driver and give him directions. He was also very helpful with arranging travel for us."

"We loved everything about Why House. Our host Henrietta was charming. Comfortable room and bed. Best pillows we’ve ever had in Sri Lanka! The food was delicious. Every night something different. Super service from lovely staff. Breakfasts were generous. Lovely pool a d a very nice bar area. Very convenient to get to the beach in a short tuk tuk ride. We swam with the giant turtles there. Also easy to get into Galle. Letting the daxi was lovely too!"

"This was one of the most comfortable places I've stayed. The hotel owners are very interesting people. They're very friendly, have delicious breakfasts, and have a beautiful view of the river. I highly recommend taking advantage of the morning safari. We saw flying foxes up close, fed rare black monkeys, encountered several crocodiles and large monitor lizards, saw an eagle up close, and much more. There's a delicious and inexpensive cafe nearby for dinner. The beach is a 15-minute walk away, or you can take a tuk-tuk for 200 rupees, which arrives quickly. The owner is learning Russian. It was very interesting to see him practice, as Sinhalese is completely different from Russian. He's an intelligent and pleasant man with a good command of English, who enjoys conversation, but is also very polite and well-mannered. I'll only have the best memories of this hotel."
